Eyecandy Monday

March at last. So how is the weather where you are? Last I saw, the USA was under 12ft of snow, mainland Europe was under 4ft of water, Scotland was cut off from the rest of the world and Somerset (my old home county) was pissing it down with rain and overrun by demons ... Oh, hold on: that last was the Solomon Kane movie last night. Forget the demon thing.

Still, the weather in Solomon Kane wasn't an entirely inaccurate reflection of this particular English winter. When it isn't snowing it's raining. The rivers are all up over their banks. My back garden is a swamp I dare not set foot in; I'm thinking of getting rid of the greyhounds (they only sink) and getting alligators instead.

But this morning - the first patch of blue sky in weeks!

So - are you still snow-shovelling your way to work? Or is Spring on the way?

Spring is on the way, sun, buds, all the snow angeling men with erections have finally buggered off out of my back garden.

It's still cold though, ice all over the car this morning. We never got more than a few cms of snow though, while people up in the hills from us were snowed in for weeks. Boo!

Still a lot of snow on the ground here from the storms a couple weeks ago, but much of it has melted too.

Spring still seems a long way off, but these things can change awfully quick.

Hopefully not too quick, because that's when we get flooding!

Damn. Janine. Your Man-Candy Mondays always seem to brighten my week. God, I wish we had snow angels that looked like the pictured here in Cleveland.

We're digging out here and looking forward to soaring temperatures in the 40's this week! Yeah, I know it's pathetic as hell. :-)

I was just thinking the same thing as Neve - no snow angels like that around here - sigh.

We keep getting snow, but the large amounts keep missing us. Was in New York City this weekend and yeah, they had a lot of snow, but they seem to handle it pretty well - didn't seem to keep anyone indoors. But yeah, I'm ready for Spring.

I heard it costs NYC a million dollars a day to keep things working in the snow.

Here we had a few weeks of ice, we ran out of grit, we have no snow ploughs, our ministers were all on holiday, and they through up their hands and said, 'we weren't ready' and left everyone to get on with it. The January/Feb business loss has been phenomenal in an already ruined economy. It's sad.

I went out without gloves on this afternoon! Yay!

But I think we need more naked snow angels out there.

For an exploration of the slightly ridiculous way in which the UK media report on snowy weather, see god-like grumpybastard Charlie Brooker on YouTube.

I know you asked a bunch of questions about the weather, but I really just want to know when in the season my snow angel arrives? Is he like the groundhog, and only pops up once each winter? Did I already miss him? Or is he a harbinger of spring and I just need to patient?

lol!

He has a lot of people to get round, Shanna, even when it's a loooong winter like this one!
