Brought to (Face)book

Buggery buggery, blast and arsebiscuits.

*sighs* Okay, I've joined Facebook.

I know: I've resisted for years. Vituperatively.  Because what I really don't need is another addictive platform for my ego that demands maintenance and steals writing time. But ... I'm supposed to be raising my internet profile for the sake of book promotion. I am being nudged, with pointy sticks, in the direction of the Communication Age.

So if you are on FB you can now find the fledgling Janine Ashbless page. Whooohoo! You can't Friend me because it's a professional/author-artist page, but you can Like me, which I gather is a similar if unrequited thing. I have no idea what I'm doing, btw. You may have worked that one out. I will post ... er, stuff.

Inside a week I will be loving it: I know my weaknesses.

And No, I am NOT joining bloody Twitter!

Hey, me too! Signed up a few weeks back and NOT A CLUE about any of it. Just been sitting quietly in the dunce corner since. How do I 'like' you? Have you got a button-thingy somewhere?

Heh!

I'm still holding out, but just yesterday I was telling DeDe and one of my kids that I'm going to have to break down and join sometime soon. Sigh.

But for now, I'm still holding out...

Especially if you like the sort of the silly word games we get up to there!

Oh Kat, high-five to a fellow newbie!

How do I 'like' you? Let me count the ways...
Actually there should be a "Like" button at the top of my page. Click on that, I think. I snuck in and made Mr Ashbless Like me!

Craig, I'm not going to urge you to do it, but there's a whole world of conversation going on out there that I knew nothing about...

AAARGH! I've just spent an hour on facebook looking at people's walls!
My time is vanishing before my eyes!

Well, glad to see you there. And since Google + started up, a lot of folks seem to spend more time there now (but I haven't gone there yet). I'm on Twitter, but it just doesn't do it for me - I don't get it - well, I do - but I don't.

I've got an invite to Google+ but I'm biding my time until ... er ... it's about to give way to the next best thing. After all, that's what I did with Myspace and Facebook ;-)

As I understand it, pseudonymous profiles are not welcome at Google+, and the company is aggressive about ejecting pseudonymous people. Whether this also entails the risk of losing access to all one's Google-owned interfaces (e.g., Gmail, Blogger) is not clear to me.
