Eyecandy Monday

Uh .... coffee?

In a year of flux some of the surprises, I'm glad to say, have turned out to be very good ones. The day after I got back form California I found myself, surprised and slightly jetlagged, at the Sonisphere rock festival, where I thoroughly enjoyed the performances of popular beat combos Papa Roach, Apocalyptica and, of course, the incomparable Rammstein. So today's fully-clothed eyecandy comes in the shape of Apocalyptica (or, "How to get 50,000 metalheads to listen to a cello recital"). Picture thanks to Roland, whose camera I lust after....

But the jetlag has had its revenge: I was up till 4am last night unable to sleep. And then the builders turned up at 8:00!

Hit Play and pass the coffee...

Uhh, eyecandy indeed.

I@ve been to SF a couple tmies and seen some great live music each time. This one sounds like a doozy, though :)

PS, welcome home!

Try some arnica, it's meant to be good for jetlag: grounding, they say.

My dad swears by melanin for jetlag which you can buy over the counter in the states (but not here). Apparently your body produces it as it gets ready to go to sleep so if you take it at 10 PM (local) you convince your body that it really is bedtime even if it seems to be 3PM.

Glad to have you back on the *right* side of the Atlantic.

Hi guys! Ah, the home pharmacists come out to play! :-)
I reckon by the time I finish playing Citadels tonight I'll be able to sleep on the floor!

I probably passed you there :D so much eyecandy in one day, truly spoilt. Hope you are recovering now!

Oh yes, Liz, wasn't it just an eyecandy feast? heh heh heh

I had a really nice time in California, thanks Winter, apart from the interesting allergy I developed to the hotel laundry powder (Spotty Janine!). Photos this week, I promise.

(Of California. Not the spots.)

If by any chance you were stood by yourself during Papa Roach to the right (as you look at the stage), I may have been the girl on your right :)

Hope you had a good time in California... personally on my trips there, I've found it a very strange place, harder to deal with and more Delphic in its cultural norms than, say, South Korea or China. For whatever reason I've found the East Coast easier to be in.

As to Apocalyptica - I was recently sent a link to a Youtube video which is apparently them doing the opener at, of all things, the Eurovision Song Contest. It's quite spectacular - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyqLl0XoMTI

All the best - F

BTW, as to the 4am thing - I was woken up at 4 this morning by someone trying to thrust burning rags into the letterbox of a house a few doors down from me. There's some gossip about this being a reprisal for the woman who lives there having an argument with a female friend's boyfriend's friends, though the details are both vague and conflicting... There was a good collection of police cars at the scene so I'll see if anything emerges in the local paper...

I went to sleep and was woken also at 8 by my partner having cramps. It's caused by cortisone deficiency, a symptom of her long-term illness. On the other hand, I didn't bother getting up until 11...

Hi Liz - I was on the right of the lighting tower during Papa Roach but not on my own - it was pretty crowded!

But if you wandered past the Sheesha tent during the Placebo set, I was sitting there with friends, watching the eyecandy stroll past...

Ouch Fulani - I feel your 4am pain! But what a great video! I love the lightsabre swallower! Puts the rest of the Eurovision show to shame, doesn't it, lol?
