Other things in my life are, if not perverse, certainly bizarre. I mean, I'm braced for a certain number of odd e-mails from strangers, in my line of work. But the other week I was contacted by a professor from an Australian university - he'd found my picture of Galli's glass uterus on my blog, and he wanted permission to use it in his research paper on Simulators in Medical Education. (I said Yes, of course.)

So - I have, in a small way, made medical history ;-)

I've (almost certainly) found a publisher for my downright filthy vampire novel Red Grow the Roses! Yayyyyyyy!!! I will tell more when it's no longer classified as Top Secret!

This is where the second photograph album starts.

Snap: I’m kneeling, out of my dress but back in my veil. It hangs down over my face and torso, so sheer that it doesn’t hide those big breasts of mine cradled in their beautiful lace La Senza bra, or my wide-eyed expression as I gaze out at the camera. The two men either side of me are faceless and fully dressed, only their midsections visible in this print. Each has one hand on my shoulder pushing me down to my knees and another hand tight round one of my wrists, holding it up. My fingers are curled helplessly, my lips parted in anticipation of what’s to come.
 
Snap: Head-and-shoulders shot. My veil is flipped back now. I’m kneeling between two sets of bare male flanks and two cocks, erect and angled toward an apex, like swords held at a salute for when the bride exits the church. Eyecandy Monday

I'm delighted to be able to say that after a veeeeeeery long wait, I am allowed to officially reveal my inclusion in the forthcoming Harlequin Spice anthology With this Ring, I Thee Bed, edited by the unstoppable Alison Tyler. It's an anthology of wedding-themed erotica, and my story Forsaking All Others, inspired by my love of arty erotic photography like the example above, is very dirty indeed. (Let's just say that the heroine of Forsaking All Others, well, doesn't. And there is detailed photographic proof.)

Eyecandy Monday

This week I've written a short story inspired partly by those sort of artsy erotic pictures you find on Acesso Restrito and Chimere Erotique. You know: the black-and-white ones with skin texture.

I've finished it and added my address and page numbers and that gubbins, and will probably give it another couple of read-throughs today before sending it off. Which means I'm at the moment of panic. Is it really good enough? Is the ending weak? Is it too cliched? Is it too slow? Is it too porny and not literary enough? Is there too much background and not enough raunch? Aaaargh!

This of course is as nothing to the panic and dread I will feel after I've sent it in, when it becomes Too Late to Change Anything.

So what about you? Do you feel the same insecurity and if so how do you cope? How can you get an objective look at your own work? Is a Beta Reader the answer?
