Eyecandy Monday

So I get home after a week and a half to find that my Amazon order is being held hostage in a depot 2 hours up the motorway, my guttering is overflowing into the neighbours' garden, my drains need rodding, and the appointment I rushed home for has been cancelled.

The proofs for The King's Viper have been delivered and need doing NOW.

I also need to get the car serviced, persuade the doctor that my left elbow needs x-raying, and officially tell my brother that I'm not going to his wedding. All in the next 4 days before I'm off again.

Sadly, instead of wanting to step up to the plate, I just want to play Spider solitaire ... until everything goes away...

  1. Here's what you do:

    1. Use the drain rods to redirect your gutter water toward the Amazon warehouse; this will provide a temporary canal, so that your parcel can be sent to you via barge.

    2. Use your scratched personal appointment to turn the tables on your doctor's office: Just call them and say, "This is Ms. Ashbless's office. We've had a cancellation today, so we can now schedule you in to x-ray our elbow. Please expect us at three o'clock."

    3. Leave the galleys in the front seat of the car, and ask the garage for a standard "oil change, tire rotation, and proofread."

  3. Jeremy, you are great. You should be my PA! Just think what I could achieve if you were there to organise things :-D

  4. If you play spider long enough, the problems WILL go away.

e.g. The date on which your brother is getting married will have passed.

Of course, some problems go away some time AFTER the earth becomes a lifeless ball of ice and the human race is extinct.

It's thoughts like that that keep me going sometimes.

  5. Yes, I have years like that as well! I'm very good at spider solitaire now.

I'm sure you'll manage to get these things sorted, though, because you're indomitable.

  6. Ha! - Thank you Fulani :-)

I have got everything sorted - or at least, I've made appointments to get them all sorted, which is good enough for the moment.
