News (in Briefs)

Thank you to everyone who wished Mr Ashbless well when he lost his job. The Good News is - he's got a new one! It pays much better! It's going to involve lots of travel to exciting new places*!

The Not So Good news is that it looks like he won't be living at home anymore. I guess I'm going to have a lot of alone time to get on with writing, in future.

*headbutts desk*

So ... how many games of Spider do you think I can fit in during an evening?

* Like New York, which is in my opinion way TOO exciting.

  1. Oh, Janine, I don't know whether to say yeah! or boo! I'm very glad you're not nipping off Down Under anyway - and congratulations to Mr Ashbless! No easy task to find a decent job in these times - he must have that something extra :D.

  2. Yes - we'll get to keep the house (and dogs and friends) so that's great. Mr Ashbless is awesome at what he does ... just don't ask me to explain what that is to you because I have very little idea. He writes a lot of documents!

  3. Games of spider this evening - six.
Games won (two suits) - three.
Amount accomplished - zero. (Well, except for winning three games of spider on the trot).

I suppose I should try to write something.

    Congrats to Mr A!

  4. Congratulations to Mr. Ashbless, Janine. I was actually just thinking about you last night — Rick Write/Mr. Emerald was laid off a few months ago as well, and he also was just offered a new job this week. I was reminded of your situation, so how funny to come by here now and see this news.

Congrats again! Best to you both.

  6. You can always use his well-gotten gains and get a nicer computer and come and explore SL!

Even more ways to waste your time and potentially more productive than games of spider.

  7. I'm gonna give it a yeah and a sigh. Great that he's found a new job (I was pretty optimistic, knowing the business he's in.) A good friend of mine got a job the very week his severance was finishing.

Oh, and congrats to Rick too, Em.

  8. Hurray for Mr Ashbless finding new and better employment! And a big pang of sympathy for the downside of the situation. (I hope conjugal visits will occur on a regular basis.)

  9. Get thee behind me, Eloise!
    ;-)

Thanks everyone. I'm sure it's a positive step forward, just a bit of a change in lifestyle. I just need to get stuck into my novels.
